How to Apply for TANF in Nevada

Nevada's TANF cash assistance program is run by the state Division of Social Services (formerly known as DWSS), and applications go through the Access Nevada online portal. A quirk worth knowing: as of February 3, 2025, Access Nevada requires everyone to register for a brand-new account before applying or managing an existing case — old login credentials from the prior system no longer work. Nevada also requires a browser that supports TLS 1.2 security, so outdated browsers may show errors when trying to apply.

    Register for a new Access Nevada account

    Go to accessnevada.nv.gov and create a new account — even returning applicants must register again since the February 2025 system update replaced old login credentials.

    Submit your application online

    Log in to Access Nevada and complete the TANF application, providing information on your household, income, and dependent children.

    Complete an eligibility interview

    A caseworker will review your application and may contact you to verify household income, resources, and other eligibility factors.

    Cooperate with support service requirements

    TANF in Nevada includes Employment & Support Services such as child care and transportation assistance, along with work-related requirements tied to receiving benefits.
