Hawaii TANF & Welfare Offices
Hawaii's Department of Human Services runs both TANF and its state-funded twin, TAONF, through 20 offices located in 16 cities, using one combined application for both. A family of three must have gross monthly income under $2,941 to qualify, and an approved household of that size can receive up to $985 a month for the first two months, a figure that steps down to $788 a month after that once a work-eligible adult is in the home. Applications go through the Public Assistance Information System (PAIS) online portal or by submitting a paper SNAP and Financial Assistance Application at a Statewide Benefit Processing Center. Recipients must also participate in the First-To-Work Program and cooperate with Child Support Enforcement whenever a child has an absent parent.
