How to Apply for TANF in Indiana

Indiana runs its TANF cash assistance through the Division of Family Resources (DFR), and nearly every applicant applies the same way they would for SNAP or Medicaid: through the state's single FSSA Benefits Portal. The gross income limit is set at 35% of the federal poverty level, and beyond income, Indiana caps countable family assets at just $1,000 (with the primary home exempt and a $20,000 vehicle-equity exclusion), one of the stricter resource limits among states.
